THE DANISH HOME is located in the beautiful hills above the Croton river in Northern Westchester County, New York, 35 miles north of New York City. The landscaped property complements the classical half-timbered stone building, courtyard, and picnic grounds.
We can accomodate 23 residents here at the Danish Home. Founded in 1906, the Home provides a warm, friendly community. Good times and laughter are part of our lifestyle. For a century, dedicated staff and a governing Board have built a tradition of caring, cheerful service to the elderly. We stay mindful of their needs as individuals and of their shared, Danish heritage.
The handsomely furnished lounge-library room, the sun room and the large dining
room are gathering places for programs, games, parties, holiday celebrations
and receptions. Visitors are always welcome.
The kitchen staff takes pride in their excellent food. They prepare and serve three nutritionally-balanced meals a day, and the menu regularly features Danish specialties. Coffee/tea and cake is served every afternoon.
Each resident has a private, air-conditioned room with attached bath. There is one suite for a married couple. Housekeeping services are provided by the Home. Residents may bring their own furnishings and personal possessions to add a special touch to their private space.
Many Danish traditions are practiced and
cherished at the Home. Danish Constitution Day, or Grundlovsdag, is honored with a day-long festival at the Home's picnic grounds. Observed the first Sunday in June, Grundlovdag features live music, dance performances, special guest speakers, kids activities, and homemade Danish food. The festival is free and open to the public.
The Danish Home welcomes your questions about admission. Any person with Danish background is eligible to apply for admission as a resident. An applicant's financial needs or limited resources are not a controlling
consideration in the review of an application.
